American National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) licensed quality control department Raven Soft getting under Activision Blizzard vote to form a union. Twenty-one testers can vote electronically for or against union formation by May 20th. If the first option wins, which seems very likely, there will be the first video game unions in the United States.
The publishing house is actively investigating the situation surrounding the creation of labor unions, and encourages employees to speak out against the proposal, according to The Washington Post sources. Activision Blizzard, for example, had to send out an email to employees with a simple message: “Please vote down.”
In a statement Blizzard Activation Last month, The Washington Post stated, “We respect NLRB’s processes, but are disappointed that less than 10% of our employees will be involved in a decision that could significantly affect the future of our entire studio. We believe that direct relationships with team members are the best way to achieve individual and corporate goals.”
Month-long campaign to form a union Game Workers Alliance launched a two-month strike against the dismissal of testers at Raven Software. Last month we wrote that Activision Blizzard will be hiring full-time testers for its studios, but this change will not affect Raven employees due to the creation of a union. According to the NZRB, the results of the vote should be known on May 23.
