In We Were Here, you take on the role of one of two adventurers and go on different puzzles with your friend or even a random partner. Your task will be, for example, to lead him through the maze, describe various strange pictures and send him the items he needs on the elevator. Or maybe vice versa, the roles will alternate, so thanks to this the gameplay remains quite dynamic.

The puzzles are well done. Once you have to turn on the brain, the second time it’s primarily about communication. Together you have to go through almost twenty puzzles, each of which really original and offers another complexity. In terms of difficulty, it’s not high and the gameplay offers a perfect balance between when you’re still having fun and when you feel completely at the end and you don’t know the right solution.

The environment of Castle Rock is then like a puzzle very expressive and varied. Once you run through the castle canals, the second time through the cemetery. The graphical shell is very good to play, and while it’s probably not the prettiest game we’ve ever played, there’s definitely nothing to complain about. The animation is worse. you sometimes completely missing or they are not convincing at all.

The music side of the game is also good. Each location has its own soundtrack, creatively suited to a given theme. The sounds are also fun, and various scary whispers or squeals are beautiful. sets the atmosphere.

Where We Were Here lags behind is the story. There were never so many original parts of the story, and from my point of view, it didn’t matter. But the developers do it in We Were Here Forever they tried to change and the result is so different and in the final you come out even more confused than before the game.

The cutscenes that try to tell you the story are visually bizarre, but they’re often completely random without much context. However, the interesting mechanics of the story are puzzles, where you have to search for individual castle characters according to their plot clues. Too bad these plot puzzles are some of the least interesting in the entire We Were Here book.

While it may seem that the fourth part of We Were Here is an almost perfect title, but in fact it is almost without it, if not for one small flaw in beauty. And when I say small, it’s not really true, because the technical side of the game is a complete failure. Large open locations can not cope with more powerful computers at a frequency of more than 10 frames per second, the number of various glitches and small bugs is noticeable, and the fact that the game should be relatively restart frequently it’s a shame.
