Obsidian Entertainment may be developing Avowed using Unreal Engine 5. The information was discovered by a Reddit user viewing Obsidian’s Principal VFX Artist – Aaron Dubois’ LinkedIn page.

Dubois is reportedly working on Avowed using Unreal 5’s Niagara VFX. Niagara is one of Epic Games’ graphics engine technologies and is responsible for calculating the games’ visual effects.

Obsidian Entertainment has been listed by Epic as one of the studios they are working on. Unreal Engine 5 projects, but this was not a confirmation that Avowed will be built with this development engine. After all, Obsidian also announced The Outer Worlds 2 last year – the latter being a more likely candidate as it’s further from release.
