The announcement of Kingdom Hearts IV on the occasion of the series’ twentieth anniversary surprised everyone, mostly because we know about biblical times. Tetsuya Nomura And we didn’t expect it so soon. After all, it’s been three years since Kingdom Hearts III’s release and we still don’t know when the fourth part will arrive… 5 and Xbox Series X seem safer. We only know that it will run on Unreal Engine 5 and a new narrative arc will begin – the Lost master – starting from the end of the previous one, ending in the city of Quadratum with our now teenager Sora, and then in the world of Verum Rex, a video game we stumbled upon in the world of Toy Story. The story is getting more and more complex.
But does that mean we’re leaving the Disney worlds behind? It doesn’t seem like it, as the same teaser at the end shows, which shows Goofy and Donald struggling with the obvious mood swings of the good old Hades. However, the change of scenery may justify a definitive move to more modern series, from Disney and Pixar CGI feature films that we’re already beginning to explore, to Star Wars and Marvel Studios films. For now we can only fly with our imagination so we thought 5 worlds we definitely want to see in Kingdom Hearts 4.
Instead, which ones would you like to visit?
Commander
Released on Disney+ as a full pandemic, Raya and the last dragon It was also a bit sneaky because it was so different from traditional Disney movies: it’s an adult and adventurous story full of action and combat, set in the mystical eastern continent of Kumandra. A distinctive fantasy setting would work perfectly in Kingdom Hearts IV, especially considering the monsters the brave hero Raya has to face: these are called Druuns, spirits of darkness that turn anyone they touch to stone and very similar to them. Heartless.
This wouldn’t be the first time Nomura has used analogies and affinities to mix his own universe with Disney’s so that the context is in place and also that Sora can count on the help of Raya and her group of heroes which would be perfect. supporting actors in fights. It goes without saying that the dragon of Sisu could be a new dragon. connotation: We’re pretty sure that this gameplay dynamic will come back in the fourth episode.
land of the dead
Let’s put it this way: If you didn’t burst into tears like fountains in the last scenes… cocoa, then instead of a heart you have a stone. The 2017 film is undoubtedly among the best films of Pixar, a triumph of music and color, which cannot leave indifferent and above all depicts the afterlife of Mexico as a kind of alternative reality to ours, where the dead return in the form of skeletons. and each year they live a second existence, waiting for the day when they can be briefly reunited with their loved ones in life.
And it looks like they’re going to reconcile with the idea that life exists beyond death in Kingdom Hearts IV, a concept that’s already been extensively researched in previous episodes and featured in the trailer’s jokes. Strelitzia. Coco’s Land of the Dead can be a wonderful world to explore, given its verticality and the supposed dynamics of movement introduced by the chain/claw. Game Tips? A rhythm game with Miguel in the Remember Me notes and the evocation of Dante in the version alley.
zootropolis
We know Tetsuya Nomura is a die-hard musical fan – you know the Final Fantasy XV storyline that was supposed to be a musical at some point, right? — and so we thought of the Colombian region where Encanto takes place, but then we realized that the Oscar-winning Disney movie was a bit too recent and would probably be out of the picture for Kingdom Hearts IV, at least.
So we’re back in another world that we thought would really grab attention: zootropolis. The movie was released in 2016 and belongs to the category of animated feature films that are a bit drier: There are no songs in this friendly movie, it’s a true detective set in the anthropomorphic city of animals. And considering Sora is used to talking animals like Goofy and Donald, the script wouldn’t even clash with the trailer’s more realistic look. The subplot can trace the movie, add Sora to the couple formed by the main characters Judy and Nick, or tell an entirely new story, as in the Toy Story series in Kingdom Hearts III.
Black Death
If you’ve read our Kingdom Hearts IV preview, you’ll know that the fandom has completely dissolved when you see a detail that, for some, is the AT-ST’s flawless leg. Then it was easy to put two and two together, considering that it appeared in a woodland scenario that had practically nothing to do with the Quadratum city that the entire teaser was focusing on: Square Enix would implicitly show us nothing more than that. Woodland bear of Endor! While we’re not at all sure, Kingdom Hearts is heavily inspired. Star warsIt’s now Disney-owned and so it’s unlikely that Sora is in George Lucas’ distant galaxy… but in Endor itself?
Some of the final battle took place on the wooded moon in Return of the Jedi, and then we briefly return to it in The Rise of Skywalker, but it’s not that important a planet other than the presence of sleepy Ewoks. We thought it would be much more epic to discover their bravery. Black Death. It would be an interesting change of scenery reminiscent of the old Absolute Space and would allow us to relive some historical moments from the Skywalker Saga. After all, Emperor Palpatine looks a bit like the Lord of Masters…
Asgard
Ok, it was really hard to choose this one. As you can understand, we thought of three Disney worlds, one Star Wars and one Marvel: In the latter case, it would be hard to choose, but there were many scenarios where the movies were set. Marvel Studios they are extraterrestrial or strictly earthly, and we finally thought of Asgard, the world Thor and his dysfunctional family came from. The reasons are multifaceted. For starters, we had Greek gods in previous Kingdom Hearts thanks to Hercules, so Norse gods wouldn’t be a bit out of tune. Latter, Asgard It is one of the Seven Kingdoms in Norse mythology to which the Marvel stories refer: the number repeats, Kingdoms are worlds… there it is.
And then Heartless would blend in well with Thor and the Dark Elves, a recurring plague on Marvel’s side. Loki, Hela or Malekith would then have been perfect in the roles of Hades, Maleficent or Gambadilegno in the past. The only problem would be to get the others in there. Avengers…but who says they’re not there to help the Lightning God in times of need?
