Although Square Enix has not made any official statement on this matter, it seems that according to the discoveries of the players Tactical Ogre: Rebirth on Nintendo Switch fully supports mouse and keyboard.
Simply connect mouse and keyboard, as reported by user “solwhitehorn” in the Nintendo Switch subreddit via USB and they are automatically recognized by the game and console. As an indication of this, the user in question posted a snapshot of the settings menu where we can see how it is possible to replace the classic commands of the Switch’s Joy-Con / Pro Controller with keyboard commands.
The interesting thing about all this is that, as mentioned at the beginning, Square Enix hasn’t officially mentioned this detail, not even mentioned on the game bundle or dedicated eShop page, among other things.
“I found it strange that keyboard shortcuts are displayed in the configuration menu. Even if nothing is written on the package, connecting a USB mouse/keyboard works directly and that way you can play as if it were the PC version. I’ve also tried a USB dongle for a Dell wireless keyboard/mouse combo and works flawlessly,” said the redditor.
This isn’t the first time a Nintendo Switch game supports a mouse and keyboard, as Quake, Doom I and II, for example, also allow it. However, this is a nice additional option and unfortunately has not been embraced by many games.
