Who’s playing God of War Ragnarok You may have noticed that there are many easter eggs these days that pay homage to PlayStation Studios games, from The Last of Us to Ratchet & Clank. One of them would apparently confirm this. PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale canonical In God of War information, through a conversation between Kratos and Mimir, which we will report below.
mimir: I also heard that you once fought in a tournament.
Kratos: I competed in many competitions.
mimir: But this one in particular, I heard you fight monsters, villains, princesses, undead, automatons and… the greatest musician in history. This… that’s not true, is it?
Kratos: I don’t want to talk about it.
mimir: That’s right for me bro.
Questioning God of War’s game director Ragnarok, Press Start’s editorial team has received confirmation that the aforementioned exchange between Kratos and Mimir is related to PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale.
Also, starting from this assumption, we learn that according to Mimir Rapper Parappa he is “the greatest musician in history”. “Princess” is a reference to the Fat Princess and Nariko from Heavenly Sword, the “bad” Nathan Drake, Sly Cooper, Dante and possibly “Bad” Cole MacGranth, “monsters” Ratchet, Daxter and Toro Inoue. Instead, “immortal” seems to be a reference to Sir Daniel Fortesque, and “automata” to Clank.
In any case, Kratos’s indirect confirmation to Mimir that he participated in the crossover tournament (which Zeus also participated in via a DLC) makes PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale canonical in God of War knowledge, at least on paper. This is certainly an interesting fact.
PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale is, as the name suggests, a brawler-style fighting game released on PS3 and PS Vita in 2012, featuring characters from various games from PlayStation Studios and third parties. The game received a lukewarm response from critics and audiences, due to the small number of modes and a cast that only partially pays homage to PlayStation history.
