Border Regions 3 have sold more than that 16 million copies and it is currently the fastest selling game published by 2K Games. So it’s not unthinkable that Borderlands 2 will sell more than 27 million copies in total.
The Borderlands franchise as a whole has sold more than 77 million copies, up two million copies from the previous fiscal quarter. Also note the growth in sales of Borderlands 2, which registered a million more units than in the previous fiscal quarter.
Gearbox will likely continue to work on the Borderlands series, even as it fell under the Embracer Group’s wing for being the goose that lays the golden egg. Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford announced that Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, one of the newest games in the series, has sold above expectations and that there are already new games in the development set in the same narrative universe.
