God of War Ragnarok broke the box office record United Kingdom and even according to GfK data, best shot ever In the history of the Sony Santa Monica series, it is well ahead of the previous record holder, 2018’s God of War. Think about it, all copies of Ragnarok sold more in the UK on day one than any other episode in a whole week.
“God of War Ragnarok will debut at #1 and will be the first cross-gen game in the series,” says GfK boss Donald Bloch. “D1’s retail sales were higher than any other game in the series for a week.”
It’s certainly impressive when you consider that the percentage of players buying digitally today is much higher than in 2018. Bloch added that 55% of PS5 console sales in the UK this week are bundled with God of War Ragnarok.
As GamesIndustry.biz reports, God of War Ragnarok is the fourth game in the series to top the UK retail chart when it was released, after God of War 2, God of War 3 and God of War (2018). To date, the franchise has 12 games, of which 6 main parts are on home consoles, two are portable games, and the rest are remasters.
