Given its very imminent launch right now God of War RagnarokDevelopers from Santa Monica announced the exact details today resolution and frame rate from the various graphics modes available PS5, PS4 and PS4 Pro.
The first information about it had surfaced with the latest previews of the game, including ours. But now the developer post on Twitter gives more precise specs regarding the graphics options available, especially regarding resolution. In total we find 6 for the PS5, 2 for the PS4 Pro, and only one graphics mode on the standard PS4. In detail:
PS5
- Yield: Dynamic resolution 1440 – 2160p, up to 60 fps
- Performance + High Frame Rate *: 1440p and 60+ fps (frame rate unlocked)
- Performance + High Frame Rate + VRR *: 1440p and 60+ fps (frame rate unlocked)
- Quality: Native 2160p, up to 30fps
- Quality + High Frame Rate *: Dynamic resolution 1800 – 2160p, up to 40fps
- Quality + High Frame Rate + VRR *: Dynamic resolution 1800 – 2160p and 40+ fps (frame rate unlocked)
PS4 PRO
- Yield: Dynamic resolution 1080 – 1656p, unlocked 30fps frame rate
- Quality: Dynamic resolution 1440 – 1656p, up to 30 fps
PS4
- Standard: Up to 1080p and 30fps
* Requires HDMI 2.1 cable and compatible TV/monitor
As we can see, God of War Ragnarok offers a plethora of graphics options that should satisfy everyone’s taste, from those aiming for native 4K on PS5 to those who prefer to sacrifice resolution to play at 60+ fps. 40fps graphics mods can be a very interesting middle ground, but we’ll have to wait for God of War: Ragnarok reviews and the inevitable technical analysis from the Digital Foundry, ElAnalistaDeBits, and the like to be sure. . . .
