In the early stages of Resident Evil 4, players encounter a dog trapped in a bear trap. Some fans nicknamed it. “Hewie”Like Fiona’s faithful friend in Haunting Ground, Capcom’s 2005 survival horror movie (according to some, this is the same animal that was added to RE4 as a kind of easter egg ed). Players have two choices: to leave him to his fate or to rescue him from the trap, thus saving his life. By choosing the latter, the dog will then help Leon by distracting the creature during the battle against El Gigante.
But apparently, in the Resident Evil 4 remake, Leon will face Hewie by now. very late. Unfortunately, Hewie has been dead for a while while Leon explores the jungle, as we can see in this clip taken from the gameplay trailer that was shared on Twitter by IGN and presented at this week’s Resident Evil Showcase.
It’s unclear why Capcom decided to make this drastic change. Of course, there may actually be a way to somehow save Hewie, but we’ll have to wait for the game’s release to find out, fingers crossed.
Resident Evil 4 Remake will be available from now March 23, 2023 PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X | For S, Xbox One and PC. The game’s producer has announced that the longevity of the remake will be similar to the original.
