Striking Distance Studios announced Callisto Protocol will not be published in Japan due to restrictions imposed by the classification society CANDLE. Players in Rising Sun will therefore only be able to purchase the game by importing a retail copy from other countries.

According to a tweet posted by the game’s official Japanese account, the Callisto Protocol did not meet the requirements of the Japanese classification body, which would prevent it from being released in Japan.

The message clarified that it would be necessary to get the green light from CERO. Changes so severe that it would result in a very different gaming experience than the one designed by the developers. Canceling the Japanese version of the Callisto Protocol is therefore a difficult decision. It is also guaranteed that all currently active pre-orders will be refunded.

At the moment it is unclear which aspects of the Callisto Protocol did not go brilliantly at CERO, and perhaps we will never know for sure. Perhaps the problem is the existence of scenes. extremely severe and bloody elements, but that’s just our guess.

Callisto Protocol’s later PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X | It is expected to come out in S. December 2. While it hasn’t hit stores yet, director Glen Schofield said the studio’s next project is likely a sequel to The Callisto Protocol.
