As you can imagine, most gamers are annoyed by the lack of such an option, which is fundamental to almost all multiplayer games. The reason is simple: There’s a significant difference in the aiming accuracy offered by a console controller and a PC mouse, even without aiming aid. Let’s talk about a very important issue in a shooter game.

Fortunately, when it comes to Xbox players, there is an external solution to the game, namely disable crossplay directly from console. It’s a very simple process that requires a few steps that we’ve listed below:

  • Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide, then select Profile & system > Settings > Accounts.
  • Select Privacy and online safety > Xbox privacy settings > View details and customize > Communication & multiplayer.
  • Select “You can join Network Play” and choose “Block” instead of “Allow”. Note that by explicitly blocking cross-console crossplay, it will be disabled for all games, not just Call of Duty.

Unfortunately, there is no solution on PC in hopes that the option to disable crossplay in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be added in an update in the near future.

Fans of the series have long asked Activision to implement an input-based matchmaking system, that is, to unite players using the same type of peripheral. This functionality was available in 2019 Modern Warfare, but has since not been brought back to later parts of the series.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 today is Friday, October 28th PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X | S is out for Xbox One and PC.
