EA CEO Battlefield admits: Last two episodes below expectations

For Vince Zampella, if DICE has strayed too far from the essence of Battlefield, Wilson feels the development team didn’t get the most out of the series with the last two episodes.

“There’s a lot of work to be done, but we’re talking about intellectual property that remains outstanding at its core, and what we’re seeing in this industry is that the biggest brands are resilient,” the CEO said.

“It happens that some movies don’t live up to expectations, take a look at the Star Wars saga, for example, but then a project is entrusted to the right creative team who have succeeded in reinventing the franchise and making it bigger.”

“I think we have a great creative team working on Battlefield right now. We have big ambitions for the first-person shooter genre.”

“And in a world where we wonder what the future of Call of Duty is and what platforms it will be on, I think it’s a great opportunity to have a fully agnostic and cross-platform Battlefield.”
