Theme Park was the most famous, Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 and 3 were the best, but there haven’t been many similar games in recent years. To renew interest in playground-themed management systems, three titles emerged in 2016: the terrifying Theme Park Studio, the crazy Rollercoaster Tycoon World, and the good Planet Coaster. If the first and second were also quickly forgotten, the third continued to grow more, thanks to the very high customization given rather than the gameplay. We don’t want Frontier Development, but Planet Coaster lacks a high-interest and fun-filled simulation like the next Planet Zoo. Fans had to wait until 2018, the release year of the amazing Parkitect, to review something good, indeed very good.

As such, we haven’t seen similar games in four years, but perhaps we’ve never seen them like Park Beyond. Okay, maybe we’re exaggerating a bit, but the mix of hidden ideas inside this game is actually weird, because you can see elements of Theme Park in your game, the best Rollecoaster Tycoon, and even the direct rival Planet Coaster. We also took a look at some touchpoints with the Tropico 6 in the demo, it couldn’t have been otherwise and of course some original choices. However, what most sets Park Beyond apart is its career mode, here in an original way connected with a real plot. But purity lovers, do not despair, there will also be a more classic sandbox mode where you can test different simulations in the game.

Curves, loops and … balls!

Park Beyond: Each game feature will be introduced by a specific character. From time to time, players will meet with the player to decide how to expand the park.

Park Beyond is fully 3D and targets someone very high graphics quality. The chosen style is as colorful as it is light, but in the proportions and some details you can understand the realistic nuance borrowed from the Tropico 6. it also offers the right degree of complexity for those looking for more than an animated diorama. Currently, the graphical interface will be completely redesigned, but all the functions are already in place, almost always allowing very intuitive interaction with the presented tools. In the demo, we were allowed to build a long rollercoaster capable of creating breathtaking bends and descents that bisect a large city, passing through buildings and towers, and scraping streets and roofs. There are also a few totally crazy elements like the cannon that will launch wagons from a great distance and land them on the tracks in front of them… and they will only be successful once they reach enough speed.

Complex does not mean difficult

Park Beyond: We can't wait to do something like this ourselves

The developers have done a really good job of making this quick and easy, it’s always a long and challenging task in other games, even when it shouldn’t be. In the demo we tested, we also sandbox modestill in a very primitive version, but already on the way to make the most of a game system with unique potential.

Also, I like Planet Coaster Park Beyond. voxel We think it’s necessary to allow the terrain to be shaped in every way: Do you want a giant fire-breathing turtle right on the sled that visitors can swoop through? Equip yourself with special tools and do it yourself. Aren’t you capable of that? Bet on the Steam workshop and download the works of other players.

A very short demo

Park Beyond: Want to taste the craziness of this game? The classic pirate ship here is split into three parts that line up parallel to each other and continue to swing. Fear!

Very high customization and promising simulation, physical and economic. It’s too bad we can say too little, too little; not because we don’t want to, but because we don’t know enough yet. And with these games in particular, it takes very little time to get everything wrong, otherwise masterpieces like the real Rollercoaster Tycoon, not the latest Atari, would stop selling for a long time and are still there to excite users old and new instead. We may not know more, but at least now we have certainty of that. Park Beyond is a must watch game and not just a project created to fill an empty space. Plus, this somewhat frenetic environment where classic rides transform and fly, fold and compartmentalize is definitely a lot of fun.

Streamlining complexity is no small feat, but that’s the promise of Park Beyond. We hoped to try something more to better understand how economic simulation would work, such as how AI will be driven by our choices, but for now we should be content. As they say? Before you hear our curiosity, now our full attention is on Park Beyond. Limbic Entertainment game this year on PS5, Xbox Series X | It is scheduled to be released on S and PC.

DOUBTS
  • Not for those who like full realism
  • Economic simulation and artificial intelligence yet to be discovered
  • Interface still in progress
