July’s European peak shows a sharp drop in sales, with F1 22 leading

Compared to last year’s data, 48% fewer consoles were sold in July 2022.

After leaving the month of July behind, it’s time to find out how the industry is doing in terms of business during this period. Having learned about the monthly sales for Spain and the data for the UK market, we take a look at the figures corresponding to Europe as a whole.

Game and console sales plummetThe information gathered by the Gaming Industry points to one of the problems we have had lately due to the low number of major releases, among other factors: the decline in sales. And this 38% fewer games sold in July compared to figures for the same month last year.

A total of 8.62 million physical and digital copies were purchased during this time, and something similar is happening in the case of hardware. 297,420 consoles sold in July, so 48% fewer machines than last yearIt’s a pretty steep drop.

Although these figures generally do not include data from the UK or Germany, Nintendo Switch remains the best-selling option by a wide margin. The hybrid is once again ahead of Sony and Microsoft’s next-generation consoles, where PS5 and Xbox Series X|S have more usability issues in stores.

Leading ahead of F1 22, GTA V and FIFA 22The data again leaves us with the same protagonist of the rest of the lists in terms of software. F1 22, Codemasters title with official license of Formula 1the game that took first place in the ranking as it was in July 2021 with the previous driving installment.

Even though LEGO Star Wars: Skywalker Saga has been with us for a few months and still tops the charts again, the game is ahead of other regular heroes like FIFA 22 or Grand Theft Auto V. As for the release of Xenoblade Chronicles 3, it ranked seventh to sell 27% more than the 2020 Definitive Edition, although Nintendo did not share digital sales figures.
