Producer Naoki Yoshida said in an interview with Famitsu: Final Fantasy 16 will be voted into action instead of using turn-based combat system Like older episodes of the series, to make it more attractive to younger players.

Yoshida later explained that the evolution of technology and graphics in video games is driving RPGs to offer more and more action-oriented mechanics.
