
Steam Deck runs on Linux, which has obvious compatibility issues with games. Most are actually designed for Windows, the most widely used operating system in the world. Aware of this problem, Valve has developed a tool called Proton Bypass Barrier.
To be exact, the latest version, Proton 7.0, has just been rolled out. It supports EasyAntiCheat (EAC) system and native H.264 video encoding. It also adds various improvements such as Doom Eternal multiplayer support, Age of Empire IV fixes and most importantly brings performance improvements.
This update includes DXVK 1.9.4, VKD3D 2.5, Wine-Mono 7.1.2 tools and adds support for new games listed below:
