Square Enix would have lost a millionaire with Marvel’s Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy
An analyst shares a devastating truth about the poor performance of two superhero video games.
Marvel is a money machine. Not only in theaters with recent hits like Spider-Man: No Way Home and Venom: Let There Be Carnage, but also in video games where Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a regular on PS5 bestsellers. This does not mean that any adaptation will be a guaranteed success, however, and we have the best proof of this in two editorial-edited adventures. Square Enix.
According to David Gibson, an analyst at MST Financial, the Japanese company would have lost $200 million to Marvel’s Avengers and Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, which is likely a millionaire amount to blame for the negligence of those responsible. According to another piece of information pointed out by Stephen Totilo of Axios, Final Fantasy will continue to bet on his Western work.
Square Enix commented yesterday that its three studios sold to Embracer Group had revenue of $200 million in 2021, a remarkable amount, but insufficient to generate just a massive eight million in operating income.

David Gibson’s data hasn’t been made official by Square Enix, but this isn’t the first time we’ve heard of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy low sales despite dissatisfaction with and good reviews of Marvel’s Avengers’ performance.
