Friends, it’s here, and I’m not just talking about the arrival of the new ASUS ROG Xbox Ally X. In recent weeks, when I had the opportunity to play with this “console”, I came to the conclusion that the designation “technology is advancing by leaps and bounds” is no longer enough. Asus, in collaboration with Microsoft and AMD, has apparently turned on the warp drive.
To save you the trouble, I’ll explain why I think this is a really good piece of hardware. First of all, it should be clarified that this is still a pocket device with a processor and graphics that cannot compare with a desktop PC. Games on it do not go to the maximum detail of 120 fps, but this is not even the goal. Most modern and demanding games will run around 30-60 frames per second, which is absolutely sufficient for this type of game.

However, the main sticking point for me is the battery life. On the previous model, you were just trying out the game, and when you finally got into the thick of battle, the battery showed up. Even in the most economical mode, when you already have experience with the gameplay, you can hardly squeeze three hours out of Alla. But here’s another song. I was able to run around Trosky Castle in Kingdom Come: Deliverance for almost three hours at full resolution, both in terms of brightness, so I can actually see something on the screen (17W profile*). The game ran at low detail, but thanks to FSR technology, the frame rate did not drop below 50 frames per second. The game was smooth and AI playable, so I still have a flashlight for a few YouTube videos.
And this is where I see the true purpose of these consoles – to take the monumental stories that the second part of Kingdom Come undoubtedly is, wherever you go and enjoy masterpieces where you usually wouldn’t take your computer. I must attest that playing in a real castle while knights fight around you will draw you into the story with an unexpected intensity.
