Halo Infinite Season 2: New game modes

0

Earlier today, 343 Industries tweeted on their official Halo account showing off a new promotional video for Halo Infinite Season 2, which drops on May 3. The video shows three new game modes coming to Infinite, two familiar ones and one new.

Season 2 brings three new game modes to Halo Infinite: King of the Hill, Land Grab, and Last Spartan Standing. Two of these mods will be familiar to longtime Halo players. King of the Hill is part of the 2001 sequel to Halo: Combat Evolved; Land Grab reminds players of areas from Halo 2 and Halo 3. The one game mode that really stands out as completely new is Last Spartan Standing, a free-for-all mode where every player will have to defend themselves. As Battle Royale modes are common in multiplayer games, it’s no surprise that Halo Infinite is joining the trend.

On the Halo Waypoint website, 343 Industries Community Writer Alex Wakeford talks to Halo Infinite multiplayer and system designer Zack Boyce about inspiring change and introducing new modes. Boise’s job is to create a paper design that he will later prototype with the staff. He had this to say about working in the King of the Hill mod:

“Like holding a flag, Hill King is a long-time classic – so some of the paper design is a bit different from the new blank canvas mod. The essence of the mod should be the same; Objective Imagination like the previous model .

As for the new Last Spartan Standing mode, Boyce says this game mode was designed with the season’s theme, “Lone Wolves” in mind. It also goes into great detail about how Last Spartan Standing tries to give players a different experience that previous Halo games didn’t have.

A long-time Halo player, Boyce is working on familiar game modes with players’ struggles and frustrations, which hopefully means that some of the work on these game modes is between good hands.
