There is already a lot in store for players in the beta version.
Alteira is a Czech browser RPG set in a world full of monsters, enemies and various traps. The game is currently in beta testing, and we decided to test it. Below you can read how some of the mechanics actually work and what we have to say about the game.
Here you are offered the classic basics
The world of the Czech browser RPG Alteira is based on classic fantasy principles, which the creators try to draw you into. In addition to the usual gameplay, there is also a plot that reveals more about the history of this place. The plot is quite simple, but it is not to say that it is not impressive. Another positive is that both the plot and other aspects of the game are presented to players in Czech, so you mostly deal with monsters and not with foreign words.
At the beginning of your story, you are an ordinary farmer who simply decided that he didn’t like working the land anymore, so he took a pitchfork and started fighting the local pests. There were plenty of enemies everywhere. On the boat, a smuggler was waiting for him. In another place, he had to face dragons, and not far away, a group of grumpy workers from the local mines were waiting for him, who were also tired of working and therefore decided to change their lives. Unfortunately for them, they did so only after your hero. The idea of encounters in Alteyra is based on a simple automatic assessment, which can only be influenced by the use of potions of strengthening with limited durability, but not directly. And this is both during battles with monsters and with other people you encounter in the arena.
One of the factors that actively determines which way the scales will tip in Altair is which game class you choose after reaching level 15. Your character can become a Manhunter, a Pyromage, or even a Paladin. Each of the heroes has special abilities and characteristics. For example, a steelworker can stun his enemies, making them an easy target for his blows for the entire round. In turn, a Pyromage casts fire spells on opponents, taking away 10-20% of the health of the burnt juice. There are plenty of options in this regard, and as a result, it is not easy to choose, because all professions have some interesting direction, which can be further supported by skill points and focus.
Fighting is just a profession, and you have to adapt to that fact as best you can. There are a surprising number of forms of focus. Combat can increase your defense or attack in Alteyra, and economic can increase your earnings. But for us, the environmental focus was an obvious choice, mainly because it could increase energy or the chance that you would find a key to chests located in temples during your travels, where there are tons of equipment. always waiting for you. And it is the equipment that forms another aspect that often determines how a fight with a boss or one of the many players participating in arena fights will actually go.
It is impossible to do this without equipment.
You will come across many items in your travels through dark dungeons, pirate ships and other places full of enemies. Luckily for you, you can actively work with them later. One option is to equip your hero with equipment, thereby effectively strengthening him. But there is an alternative in the form of traders. In Alteyra, they are ready to buy almost everything that is in your bag, so even seemingly useless equipment at such a moment is a source of funds. Then you can buy equipment of your choice. You are offered helmets, robes, shields and weapons with which the hero can arm himself. If for some reason the current offer does not suit you, nothing prevents you from asking the merchant once a day to throw the goods hidden in the warehouse into the store. If this does not suit you, gold is next.
As is often the case in this genre, gold bars can be used to buy a lot of things. In Alteyra, you can use them to change shop offers, skip quests, rest, upgrade your gear or restore energy. It is an element that can be worked with at least in the early levels, so that you can effectively manage resources and defeat monsters. However, since you need more experience, you do not get enough stamina, which can eventually be solved either by resting with gold or by magic potions that can be pumped very strongly, so at certain moments you can feel like Geralt of Rivia.
You simply won’t experience any side effects, as you’ll often be throwing potions at yourself with the grace of a pub regular, trying to level up and open up the flow of free energy, which is very nice, for example, anything that doesn’t require any resource expenditure. However, in order not to offend the creators of Alteyra, it’s necessary to write that working with energy here makes sense. Gold, with which it can be quickly restored, is also an element that can be worked with and obtained, for example, by completing tasks. Bricks are not the only thing that can be worked with in transactions.
Then there’s silver, which has as many uses in Alteyra as gold. You can buy the aforementioned combat gear, potions, or trainer time with it. The trainer at the ranger camp can train you, but as you progress, the difficulty of some stats increases, which ultimately means you have to think carefully about what to focus on. Money doesn’t grow on trees, but waits for you at the pub, where the pub owner has a decent amount of resources, items, and experience points for all the quests you’ve completed.
The development of Alteyra is not yet complete.
In conclusion, we can say that our impressions of playing Alteyra are extremely positive. It is a good browser project with a story and monsters, which in many ways follows in the footsteps of famous brands, but we certainly do not consider this a mistake. The main thing will be how much the creators will manage to stand out from the competition in the final version and, above all, whether they will manage to correctly balance free game elements and aspects related to game currency.
A common mistake these projects make is that they simply fail to optimize properly, after which not only their lifespan quickly dwindles, but so does their enjoyment, as the pressure to buy in-game currency is too great. So we’ll see how it goes. All we can say for sure right now is that Alteyra has potential. How much its creators manage to exploit it is up to them. However, it will be interesting to see what they bring us in the future.
