ATLUS has shared new details about its highly anticipated fantasy RPG Metaphor: ReFantazio, created by the team at Studio Zero. Following the release of The Royal Tournament trailer, which was revealed earlier this month at The Game Awards, the latest press package explores global culture, dives into the game’s characters, and introduces the story players will be following. Director Katsura Hashino also shares a statement discussing the inspiration for the game’s title and concept.

Choose your new king
This is a story about how people must find unity in order to elect a new king. Our story takes place in the United Kingdom of Euronia, where the assassination of the king brings chaos and unrest to the land. Then, one fateful day, a magic known only to the king, called Royal Magic, is used, and the world is drawn into a royal tournament for the throne.
In the midst of this, the protagonist, along with his companion, the fairy Galitsa, must find a way to lift the curse placed on the prince, whom the kingdom believes to be dead. To do this, they set off on a journey across a vast land. They will discover that to achieve their goal they must participate in a tournament for the throne, and this great task will require them to unite with many friends and followers from the various tribes that inhabit the world.
