KRAFTON, Inc., through the PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS development team, has published a post on the game’s official blog describing the team’s efforts to improve anti-cheat tools and additional measures taken to ensure the best possible in-game environment, as well as detailing what the next steps are for the future will be.
The team responsible for analyzing possible cheats has access to several indicators to identify illegal software, having as a faithful ally PUBG’s own anti-cheat system Zakynthos, due to which the “Percentage of suspected cheaters” has dropped significantly in 2021. However, a year later the team saw an increase in numbers and demanded new measures, which showed their effect in the first half of 2023.
This battle is fought on two fronts: strengthening protection against illegal programs and preventing banned users from returning to the game. To achieve the first goal, much effort has gone into improving Zakynthos’ actions, culminating in the blocking of approximately 1.7 million accounts in the first half of this year, an increase of 39% over the same period in 2022.
To prevent punished players from returning to the game, improvements have been made to the hardware ban system. As a result, in the first half of 2023, the number of punishments increased by 28% compared to the same period last year.

Speaking of next steps, the development team should continue to improve tools to combat cheaters, punish users of illegal programs, and implement other methods such as mobile authentication for ranked matches, which should be implemented in the near future.
