With new Cyberpunk 2077 mods being released every day, it can be hard to decide what improvements and tweaks you need to add to CD Projekt Red’s RPG, but this ongoing high-res 4K upgrading project is downright minimalist, especially when viewed associated with the recent cyberpunk. Patch 2077 1.62 RT: Updated Overdrive routing.
This collection of 4K Cyberpunk 2077 mods was created by XilaMonstrr who also added 16K dragon textures to Skyrim. The High Definition Cyberpunk 2077 project is ongoing and started in 2022.
Thanks to XilaMonstrr, from individual character models to food, drink and background containers, high-resolution upgrades are available for many nocturnal cities. You can also download REMod options for those files that use AI scaling to improve details and patterns in Cyberpunk 2077. This is different from the Ultra HD redesign for Cyberpunk 2077, although its purpose is similar.
Also recently released for Cyberpunk 2077 was a “cinematic rendering” path tracing mode that uses artificial intelligence to give an even better visual experience than ray tracing while maintaining high frame rates. As such, XilaMonstrr’s high-resolution textures are perfect for tracking paths, giving Cyberpunk 2077 its best look.
XilaMonstrr says that “they plan to improve the whole game! Seriously!” and that it will probably be a few hundred mods when it’s ready, creating a kind of “next-gen graphics DLC” for the game.
“Cyberpunk relies heavily on native graphics post-processing and scaling,” XilaMonstrr writes. “This means that most of the vanilla textures are very low resolution and the game engine scales most of them to at least 2 or even 32 times the original depending on the graphics settings.
“This method allows CDPR to pack the game much smaller, but the quality of this on-the-fly scaling is nowhere near what carefully trained and curated high-end models can do with powerful AI tuning software. Since the vanilla textures are already scaled, there shouldn’t be much of a difference in VRAM usage between these mods and setting the texture quality to High.
