The cast of the Resident Evil 4 remake included Asian-Canadian actress Lily Gao as the horror game’s fan-favorite character Ada Wong, but she suffered backlash upon release. Gao removed content from his Instagram account in early April due to the release date of Resident Evil 4 Remake and the shameful abuse that comes with it.
As the first Asian woman to play the character, Ada was originally played by Sally Cahill, then Jolene Andersen, Gao lashed out at Gao, but returned to Instagram on April 9 to discuss the situation.
“To be the first Asian actor to play Ada in a Resident Evil game is an honor,” he wrote. “Unfortunately, with the release of the game, the all-too-familiar sentiment of ‘I don’t belong here’ was introduced. “My Ada is a survivor,” she continues. “She’s kind, fair, smart, and funny. She’s unpredictable, playful, and absolutely not stereotypical.
Players will be able to play as Ada firsthand in Resident Evil 4 Remake’s new Mercenaries mode, which some say is an early elaboration of “Split Paths”, an Ada-focused mode that, despite not currently being available on the game, believed to be in development. horizon.
