It’s a good time to be a fan of RE. Resident Evil 4 Remake is a certified hit and one of the best horror games of recent years. Meanwhile, Resident Evil Death Island, the new movie starring Leon Kennedy, Jill Valentine, Chris and Claire Redfield, already has a full trailer and it looks great. That’s not to say that all the other Resident Evil movies were bad – Welcome to Raccoon City is still sorely underrated – but the combination of Michael Bay’s The Rock with Zombie T-Virus and the classic RE cast makes Death Island look amazing. very funny.
So here is the premise. Several years after the events of Resident Evil 5, Jill and Chris join Claire, Leon, and Rebecca Chambers to investigate the many recent T-Virus infections around the world. After some investigation, the group discovers that all of the victims have recently visited Alcatraz Island, the site of the infamous United States Penitentiary, best known to moviegoers for housing Nicolas Cage’s fragile Poison Green Balls.
Disguised as tourists (check out Chris Redfield’s party shirt, mortals and despair), the team infiltrates Alcatraz, only for events to escalate to Resident Evil very quickly. I’m talking about mutant sharks. I’m talking about frivolous jokes. I’m talking about all the hits, all the big ones, including the first screen pairing of Leon and Jill. Check it out below:
The history of the Resident Evil movies and TV shows tends to be dark and underwhelming – the only live-action RE productions that stand out are “Welcome to Raccoon City”, which is fine, I swear, and this clip from Resident Evil. 1 in the laser beam hallway.
Other than that, CGI movies in general have been much better, and Death Island hopes to continue that trend. The new Resident Evil movie will hit Japanese theaters on July 7 and will likely be available to stream soon after.
