Counter-Strike 2 may be getting closer to its release date, but as a new iteration of Valve’s iconic FPS game approaches, don’t overlook CSGO. Reaching new heights for concurrent users on Steam and setting records for the most open CSGO cases, Global Offensive still has a lot to offer, even if you’re not a typical shooter fan. Rogue, the new CSGO custom game mode just uploaded to Steam, turns Counter-Strike into a multiplayer roguelike and is out now, just in time to pass the months leading up to CS2.
Created by OrelStealth, Rogue is a partially roguelike or roguelite version of CSGO, complete with all the core elements of the genre, and can be played solo or with two friends. Cards are procedurally generated, and each match offers the opportunity to collect different cards, curses, and abilities that can be used against extremely powerful AI enemies and bosses.
There are eight different characters to choose from, each with special abilities, and over 100 different cards, offering a wide range of advantages and disadvantages. You can see it in the trailer below:
In its current form, Rogue isn’t finished yet, but OrelStealth says they wanted to release it now before the chaos that will likely follow when CS2 hits Steam this summer.
A third boss fight may be added in the future and you may run into a small bug or two, but it’s essentially CSGO like you’ve barely played it before – remember Binding of Isaac or Darkest Dungeon, except now you’re AWP. You can get Rogue on Steam.
Be sure to stay up to date with all the Counter-Strike 2 changes you can expect this summer. You can also explore the Counter-Strike 2 maps and see how the new Counter-Strike 2 smokes are changing the game.
