With the release date for Cities Skylines 2 fast approaching, city builder Colossal Order took the time to answer a few questions about the online sequel, giving us more clarity on things like mods and multiplayer in Cities Skylines 2, with more information about. my way.

If you’re wondering about porting content from the Cities Skylines Workshop mod to the sequel, Colossal Order has the bad news that it’s being ported.

“Cities Skylines 2 is a brand new game. Existing Workshop content may need to be redone or adapted,” Colossal Order replies. “We will have more information about the Cities Skylines 2 mod in the future.”

Speaking of Cities Skylines mods, you might be wondering if Cities Skylines 2 will have some sort of multiplayer similar to the popular original mod, but Colossal Order implies that any official multiplayer is low on the studio’s priority list.

“Cities Skylines 2 is our most ambitious project to date, expanding on all of the franchise’s mechanics,” writes Colossal Order. “Adding multiplayer support requires a significant amount of time and resources, which leads us to create the core gaming experience we strive to create.”

The hopes of the Cities Skylines 2 multiplayer mod did not come true.

Never say never, but it looks like Cities Skylines 2 won’t release at least in multiplayer, and mod support may have to start from scratch. Naturally, Colossal Order has been vague on most points, and there’s been more news about the sequel throughout the year, so we’ll have to wait and see for the full answers on what it looks like.

In the Twitter comment thread, Colossal Order also answers additional questions from fans, mentioning “proper shipping” for the original Cities Skylines this year. The latest Cities Skylines expansion pack was revealed earlier this year, so you can find out what the Colossal Order has really planned.
