The latest major update for Darkest Dungeon 2 for Early Access has arrived, bringing an overhaul to the game’s movement system, improvements to several key Lovecraftian roguelike gameplay systems, and introducing adorable pets that can help you both in combat and out of combat. The Redemption Road update is the last one before the release of Darkest Dungeon 2 in May, but in the meantime, fans have a lot to play for.

By far the most exciting news is the introduction of pets, with ten different pets in five different cage styles. Six of them are used as part of your errand; for example, Unnatural Owlet gives you +5% debuff chance for each Mechanic Gear you have equipped. These tags have been added to items, so this particular tag applies to, for example, an Explosive Loader, Blueprint Vials, Analysis Kits, Mechanic Workbench, and a set of Traps. Routes have been redesigned to allow the player to better plan their actions.
