When the release date for The Last of Us on PC finally arrives, Steam reviews for the survival game Naughty Dog are already listed as “mostly negative”, with players reporting various issues related to performance, loading times, etc. load and shaders. . Thankfully, Naughty Dog has already responded, saying they have “heard” player concerns and trying to prioritize the various fixes TLOU requires.
As of March 30, a new patch for The Last of Us has been released to address some of the biggest issues plaguing the horror game. “This update is mainly focused on stability and performance improvements, along with other minor improvements,” writes Naughty Dog.
According to the developer, the patch would have “fixed various performance and stuttering issues that were affecting some users. [and] Added additional troubleshooting information to help investigate shader compilation-related crashes and other common stability issues.”
Basically, while the shader compilation issue is likely to continue to plague The Last of Us, Naughty Dog is rolling out new tools to help identify and fix the issue faster; It hasn’t been fixed yet, but a significant step has been taken to help resolve it faster.
Naughty Dog also states that “further improvements and research are currently underway based on user feedback.” You don’t have to do anything to download The Last of Us patch as it will automatically be applied to your game the next time you launch it.
