There have been some truly amazing Apex Legend skins over the years, from Victory Circle for Octane to Man of War Fuse, and of course, False Idol for Revenant. But as the Imperial Guard Collection event comes to a close and we look forward to the Apex Legends Season 17 release date, there’s one aspect that fans (hardcore fans) want to see. Thankfully, it looks like Apex Legends developer Respawn has finally introduced the Loba swimsuit to their flagship FPS game.
A bit of context. From the Imperial Guard Collection, excavators have unearthed several swimsuit skins for various Apex Legends characters, seemingly heralding a new beach-themed event with a set of cosmetics to match.
Unfortunately for some, while most of the Apex roster had to don bikinis and Speedos, Loba’s swag added in season five wasn’t one of them. The outrage was general. The demand was high. Loba’s swimsuit skin was needed. Harnessing the incredible power of consensus, Respawn put it to a vote.
“Okay, here’s the thing,” the developer tweeted on March 22. “If this post gets 10,000 likes, we’ll add a swimsuit mask.”
In an impressive and inspiring act of democracy, a Respawn post reached the 10,000 like threshold in ten minutes. To quote Field of Dreams, “if you build it, they will come.” To quote…myself: “If you promise Apex Legends fans that Loba will wear a swimsuit, they will do everything they can to get it.”
In the official response, the Respawn Apex team seems to hint that the Loba swimsuit skin could be coming very soon; In a March 22 evening post, Respawn writes “see you tomorrow.”
Also, the next Sun Squad Collector event, where the swimsuit skins were originally found, will start on March 28, so we may not have Loba by then.
Since Respawn doesn’t mention her specifically, there’s also a very slim chance that the swimsuit skin she mentions isn’t related to Loba at all, but given the recent hype and fervor, Respawn isn’t referencing her. TO swimsuit skin but V swimsuit skin, that seems unlikely. I think we can write it off as another thirst victory.
