Half-Life 2, reimagined as a classic Resident Evil horror game, is now available

It’s like pizza and ice cream, burgers and fries: two of my favorite games of all time, Half-Life 2 and Resident Evil, came together to create a new classic fixed-camera horror game, and now it’s available for free. If you need something to fill the time before the release of Resident Evil 4, I’d say this is what you need.

Lost and Damned is a completely revamped Half-Life 2 mod that uses monsters and weapons from Valve and Steam FPS as the basis for a 90s-style survival horror game set in an old mansion, you guessed it. Inventory management, complex aiming, and tank control – every aspect of Half-Life 2 has been redesigned for a classic Resident Evil feel. You can see Lost and Damned in action below:

Instead of Umbrella T-Virus monsters, we have headcrab zombies. Instead of first aid sprays, we have little green vials of HP that you’ll find in the Alliance wooden crates. Lost and Damned even has its own soundtrack – the title track, in particular, sounds like the perfect mix of Half-Life 2’s powerful battle music and Resident Evil’s original low-end synth soundtrack.

All you need to play Lost and Damned from modder SellFace is your own copy of Half-Life 2 Episode Two, as it’s based on the 2007 shooter. Lost and Damned is available to download here.
