Diablo 4 Beta Date Announced With Intro Scene

Blizzard announces the release date for the next Diablo 4 beta, letting gamers who want to get their hands on the next fantasy RPG know exactly when they can get it. Speaking at IGN Fan Fest, Diablo 4 game director Joe Shelley told fans that they will be able to play the next beta in March, along with the game’s introduction video.

The opening scene is just as sinister as expected, following in the footsteps of the images shown above. After the cutscene, Diablo 4 Game Director Joe Schely sits down with IGN host Ryan McCaffrey to talk a bit about the game and provide an update on its upcoming beta release. He also reveals that the character you created will be brought into the scene as we get to know some of the in-depth creation tools which seems like a significant step up from previous offerings in the series.

“It’s part of the engine included in Diablo 4,” Sheli explains, explaining how custom skins can appear in what appears to be a traditional high-level Blizzard cinematic. It’s great to see how well the custom characters fit into the scene while maintaining the look and feel of a pre-rendered scene.

The Diablo 4 beta will run from March 17 to 19. for players who pre-ordered the game. The Diablo 4 open beta will take place from March 24 to 26.during which all players can play. Progress will be saved between beta weekends, but will be cleared prior to full release. Sheli says that the beta has no time limit and players can level up to level 25 and watch the full prologue and act one, including the full campaign and side quests.

Sheli also says that the team is committed to receiving feedback from players during the two beta weekends, helping the team refine the game between the beta testing periods in March and its release in June. She also promises that during beta testing, players will be able to see more of their character in the game’s story scenes.
