A new set of Sins of a Solar Empire 2 Technical Previews has arrived, which means that the 4X sci-fi game has a multiplayer mode. Players can now jump into existing multiplayer games and take ownership of an AI faction or a player that needs to go. The latest update also brings additional changes such as ship model and texture updates and a research tree update.
Developers Stardock and Ironclad say the introduction of multiplayer is a major milestone in Sins of a Solar Empire 2 Early Access. Being available in Tech Preview is “just the tip of the iceberg,” gamers should have a good insight into the capabilities of the new game engine.
As mentioned above, multiplayer allows players to team up and take control of another player’s AI factions, or switch to another member of the multiplayer session who must leave the game. You can also create private matches and invite friends using a unique game code. You can also easily return to the game after losing connection.
“We had co-workers interfere in ongoing games and completely destroy people who thought they had won a landslide,” says Brian Clair, Stardock’s publishing director. “We can’t wait to see our community embrace this feature, and this is just the beginning!”
The latest update also updated some ships with new models and textures. You will see visual improvements on the TEC Ogrov Torpedo Cruiser, Pirate Rogue, Corsair, and Pillager ships.
Another exciting new feature is attack, defense, and attention beacons to help you coordinate your efforts, whether you’re playing as a team or in an alliance.
You can see the full list of changes on the official website. Next spring, the Vasari Loyalist faction will appear, and this summer, the Vasari Rebel faction. Look out for the arrival of the Advent Loyalist faction in the fall.
