Driving around the Pacific Northwest in a beat-up pickup truck may not seem like your typical video game power fantasy, but Pacific Drive has a little more up its sleeve. The racing-based survival game that debuted on PlayStation State of Play last September now has a new trailer that gives a better idea of what it’s like on a STALKER-inspired journey through the irradiated forests of the Olympic Exclusion Zone. . . prepared for us later this year.

Pacific Drive is an upcoming video game set on Washington’s Olympic Peninsula, a land mass covered mostly in wildlife that lies across the Puget Sound from Seattle. In Pacific Drive, it has become a dangerous exclusion zone after a mysterious disaster caused by a secret organization called ARDA. It is now filled with radiation and STALKER-inspired “anomalies” that can take the form of hostile balls of junk, menacing pillars of earth, and a massive weather phenomenon called the “Storm Zone” that destroys everything in its path.

Every race on Pacific Rim takes you into the Exclusion Zone in your trusty SUV that provides some degree of protection from the dangers of the zone. Here you will find scraps, parts and new materials that you can use in your garage to repair and improve your car.

However, the area changes with each outing, and you’ll have to improvise: the van may be a bit beat up, but that’s all. You will have to look for parts in abandoned gas stations, in vehicles and in everything you find out there.

However, he can’t sit still for long, as he will draw attention to the anomalies, eventually having to dodge the destructive power of the Area Storm.

Fortunately, you will be able to learn customizations for your car that will increase its durability and allow you to access areas that were not possible in the beginning.

There’s a lot going on in the trailer: all shades of Twin Peaks, Stranger Things, STALKER, Alan Wake, and maybe even some Forza.

Developer Ironwood Studios says that Pacific Drive’s release date will be this year, and you can head over to Steam to add it to your wishlist right now. You can also try some of the best racing games on PC to make sure your driving skills are up to scratch.
