A new update has been released for Dead Space Remake, but unfortunately it doesn’t completely fix the current performance issues. While Motive Update is arguably one of the best horror games of 2023, stuttering while moving continues to interfere with the experience on PC.
Our Dead Space Remake review praises the sci-fi survival horror for a respectful remake, but performance issues keep it from reaching perfection. Taking advantage of AI enhancement features like Nvidia DLSS can alleviate common frame drops, and walking stuttering isn’t necessarily a hindrance. They do spoil the mood a bit when it comes to immersion, though, and Motive’s latest update doesn’t fix that.
According to the developer’s Dead Space Remake update 1.04 release notes, the patch includes “performance improvements” and fixes “various stuttering and lag issues.” Once again, the tracking stutters are still here, so it looks like we’ll have to wait a bit for this particular fix, but hopefully the tweaks will fix other issues that are plaguing the horror game.
Of course, if you’re just looking to boost your frame rate, the best Dead Space Remake settings can help you strike a balance between frame rate and fidelity. Additionally, DSOGaming reports that enabling resizable BAR on supported motherboards makes a big difference, with gains of up to 25% on the Nvidia RTX 4090.
It’s worth noting that the new version of Motive is still fresh on the scene, and further updates should clear up any notable glitches. In the meantime, check out our Dead Space schematic guide to help you upgrade your arsenal of in-game weapons and escape Ishimura in style.
