The latest Pokemon Unite update is now available for download on the official website and on mobile platforms. The game comes by weakening some of the strongest Pokémon in the game and buffing others to match the competition. The popular Pokemon MOBA game has received regular updates since its launch in July 2021, and TiMi Studios regularly adds new content to the game.
Since each new month usually brings at least one or two new Pokémon, the developer is often looking to lower the power levels of some of the strongest Pokémon MOBA meta-threats. Now the new update brings hits for Sableye, Urshifu and more.

Pokemon Unite Update: Here’s What’s Changed
The Pokemon Unite roster has grown steadily since its launch, debuting a group of 20 Pokemon for players to battle against. TiMi Studios added new games to the roster on a monthly basis, with several new Pokémon entering the battlefield in some months. Creatures like Sabers and Urshifu immediately impacted the Pokemon Unite metagame, bringing powerful new strategies with Saber stealth and Urshifu’s damage reduction when using Wicked Blow. These and other Pokémon have been targeted by TiMi Studios in the game’s latest patch.
The patch notes released by The Pokemon Company detail the full set of changes coming to Pokemon Unite as part of version 1.8.1.6. Shadow Sneak by Sableye is one of the biggest changes in the patch, increasing the duration of entering stealth mode and the ability to exit stealth mode.
Urshifu sees a change in both forms, with Single Strike gaining Wicked Blow damage reduction and Ebon Fist damage reduction hits, and increasing Rapid Strike’s cooldown. Mobility of Scyther and Scizor has also suffered across the board, with several attacks weakened.
With the nerfs, several other Pokémon have received a buff in the latest Pokemon Unite patch. Clefable’s support abilities have received a huge buff in an update with Moonlight’s HP recovery and increased crowd control duration on Gravity.
Hoopa’s ghostly power has been greatly enhanced, allowing Pokémon to move freely around locations without relying on an opposing Pokémon, and also reduces the cooldown of the Hyperspace Hole. Dragapult also received a small buff to Shadow Ball’s damage.
As Pokemon Unite moves closer to 2023, the list is expected to expand in future updates. Early January brought with it the release of Dragapult as Unite’s newest Pokémon with an aggressive endgame-focused playstyle. TiMi Studios and The Pokemon Company have also already announced a February addition to the roster that will feature Komfi as a utility character similar to Yumi from League of Legends. The Pokemon Unite roster will certainly continue to grow as the game moves into the second half of its second full year.
Prepare for Pokémon Unite Battles
Pokémon Unite is a multiplayer online battle arena, or MOBA, that features two teams of five players. The game map is divided into two parts, with several points that must be controlled by the players. Players score points for their team by defeating “wild” Pokémon that appear on the field, capturing them, and heading towards one of the opposing team’s “targets” to score points. Each match is limited to 10 minutes and the team with the most points at the end of each match wins the game.
Players begin each game by controlling low-level base Pokémon, which can level up and learn new fighting moves as they win battles and evolve. They are divided into five types of “classes”: attackers, defenders, supports, all-rounders and speedsters. The game includes a unique “Merge Move” mechanic for each Pokémon character. Pokémon Unite is available for nintendo switch, android and iOS.
