You don’t see publishers trying to do what Xbox and Bethesda did with Hi-Fi Rush these days, but clearly these two are in a unique position to do something similar. With no official announcements ahead of the Xbox Developer_Direct presentation, Hi-Fi Rush burst onto the show’s live stream with a unique aesthetic and hook; What if the action game had a Guitar Hero beat and launched directly on Game Pass?
It seems to have worked, as the game has already generated a buzz online and climbed the Steam charts, as it was the seventh best-selling game on Valve’s platform at the time of publication, with thousands of concurrent players and views on Twitch. . – which is great considering no one knew this game existed until this week.

Hi-Fi Rush, as a game that had no real marketing escalation other than rumors that Tango Gameworks was actually working on the game (not a surprise), was clearly looking to cash in on at least 25 million subscribers. Hi-Fi Rush is also getting a lot of praise from people, not just me, with over 90% of Steam players feeling positive about it. It also helps that it doesn’t cost as much as a full AAA version – just $29.99 (£26.99) on Steam – or even cheaper if you consider it’s only worth a month of Xbox Game Pass.
