Blizzard has plenty of ideas for the Diablo Immortal roadmap and shares plans for 2023 that include four major updates to Diablo Immortal, a new class, clan improvements, new gameplay features, and…fishing. That’s right, while there’s still a long time until Diablo 4’s release date, in the meantime, there’s a lot to look forward to in a free-to-play game for one of Blizzard’s top RPGs.
Diablo Community Manager Adam “PezRadar” Fletcher shares details of next year’s updates for Diablo Immortal on the game’s Reddit page. Fletcher notes that the game received two major updates in 2022 since it launched in June, and says that the team plans to release four major updates in 2023.
These updates will include “clan improvements, social features and in-game gameplay, and will introduce a new Helliquary class and bosses.” The prospect of a new addition to the Diablo Immortal class roster is perhaps the most exciting of all, as it will presumably introduce players to entirely new abilities and gameplay.
Fletcher notes that new main and side quests are in the works to further the story and overall narrative of Diablo Immortal. He also says that increasing game variety is a key goal in 2023, speaking of Diablo’s core experience of “making wise decisions to defeat the hordes of demons while continuing to enrich your build.”
As such, it says that new Diablo Immortal Legendary items will continue to be released with future updates, giving all current and future classes plenty of ways to customize their builds and introduce new strategies. He concluded by adding, “To diversify the game, we plan to introduce a new competitive and fishing mode.”
The recent Diablo Immortal Q&A briefly discussed some new ideas in Diablo Immortal’s PvP work, though it looks like we’ll have to wait a bit longer to find out what they’re all about. The interview also hinted at “other developments that will significantly alter Immortal’s gameplay,” though we definitely haven’t fished our bingo cards!
