Infinity Ward has announced the start of the next season of Call of Duty. The Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0 Season 2 start date is February 15, and the developer says it will have more information on what to expect next week. As of now, we know that multiplayer games will change based on player feedback, and Season 2 will add ranked games, new maps, new modes, and more.
“Season 02 includes all new content, including the return of Resurgence and a new small map for Warzone 2.0,” Infinity Ward announced on Twitter. “Ranked play is back as well, coming to Modern Warfare 2 with new multiplayer maps, new modes, weapons, and more.”
Although Infinity Ward never officially announced when this would happen, the studio confirmed in November that a ranked game would eventually be added to Modern Warfare 2. As fans have speculated, this is in fact happening with the season two release date.
Leaked images of the upcoming season suggest that it will have a Japan-themed theme, but Infinity Ward has yet to confirm this. However, the studio says it plans to launch a “deep studio blog” next week that should keep us updated on what’s to come. Immediately, the devs are just talking expect “exciting changes” in Warzone 2.0, “including gulag, looting, and dumping.”
