Nvidia’s RTX 4090 gaming laptop models are in development, but a higher-end MSI rig could cost you close to $5,000. That’s according to online price leaks, but according to budget PC enthusiasts, there’s still no sign of the cheapest RTX 4050 machines.
The best gaming laptop options rarely come cheap, and putting the Nvidia RTX 4090 into a portable powerhouse is likely to drive prices even higher. At CES 2023, we’ve already seen plenty of wearables, including the new Razer Blade 16 with screen swapping. Pricing for the mini-LED system starts at $2,699.99, but even that MSRP is well below what MSI seems to be looking for.
As Videocardz points out, there are plenty of prices to be seen at Microcentre for MSI’s RTX 4000 gaming laptops, including the monstrous new “Titan” model. If you’re looking for something that won’t compromise, the latest version specs should tick all the boxes. It features Intel i9-13980HX CPU, 2TB SSD, and massive 64GB DDR5 RAM, more than enough to meet the highest PC system requirements. As for your display, you’ve got a 4K 144Hz panel in front of you, which fits nicely with the set, as the above specs suggest UHD capabilities.
Naturally, the MSI Titan comes with a price tag, and it sounds like you’ll be paying $4,699.99 for a generous SKU. Also, the first listing includes a “Raider” option that essentially replaces the aforementioned 4K display with a 1440p mini LED monitor, but that will only save you about $700. The cheapest of the Lovelace bunch is the Katana, which comes equipped with an RTX 4050 and other relatively mundane specs like 16GB of RAM and an i7 chipset.
As with all leaks, especially RTX 4000 scams, it’s best to take the above prices with a grain of salt. Microcenter listing information may be based on preliminary indicative prices and MSRP plans may change prior to launch. This particular collection of next-gen laptops also doesn’t live up to Nvidia’s CES promise, with no $999 option in the offing. We expect this setup to use an RTX 4050 and not an RTX 4060, but it looks like we’ll have to wait a bit for proper confirmation.

Rumors imply that pre-orders for the RTX 4000 laptops will begin on February 1, with MSI’s first listing explicitly mentioning delivery dates between the 8th and 22nd of next month. Again, these dates have not been confirmed by Nvidia, MSI, or any other major gaming PC brand, so we recommend waiting for something more specific.
