The hordes of zombies in World War Z Aftermath are getting bigger and bigger

An update coming out this month will make World War Z Aftermath’s zombie hordes even bigger than they were before. Due to the number of zombies on screen, World War Z already has some competitors – only Days Gone comes to mind as a possible contender among the crowd of undead. However, Saber Interactive has announced that Horde Mode XL In cooperative on January 24and this will increase the size of the swarms to sizes never seen before.

Horde mode first appeared in 2019, before the Aftermath update was released. In it, teams of survivors face increasingly dangerous waves of enemies in the standard horde mode. World War Z has created swarms of zombies, the centerpieces of the film, one of the main pillars of the game, with the undead climbing over each other, scaling walls and other structures to attack players and barricades.

There’s something extremely satisfying about throwing grenades into those densely populated piles of zombies, and that’s why Promise Horde Mode XL showing “more zombies on the screen than ever before” is really tempting. Combine that with the new melee system and first person perspective added to Aftermath and it looks like Horde Mode XL is going to be old school.
