Ranking 2023
Starting this year, the two ranked stages will reset each other with different rewards. This change is part of our efforts to keep LoL in line with current expectations and address stress issues to avoid a mid-year slump or relegation.
- Reset rank: Once the 2nd Ranked Season Split Season starts, the reset won’t be as heavy as it was in January as the game won’t change much and players won’t need to restore their ranks in the same way. Also, a mid-year reset will be even less effective if the person has played multiple games since January.
- Awards: Players will now be able to earn full ranked rewards in every ranked stage, including badges, emotes, ranked borders, and a ranked skin. This means there will be two ranked skins this year, as well as additional climbing rewards.
- In addition, players will no longer need to meet the Gold Tier requirements to earn a Ranked Skin, and will instead be able to earn it based on the number (according to level) of Ranked games played.
- Chroma will continue to be based on the rank achieved at the end of the stage.
Start of the season
On January 10 and 11, the LCS, LEC, LCK, LPL, LJL, CBLOL, LLA, PCS and VCS leagues will host and broadcast a special two-day event as a preview of the new 2023 season, which will showcase promising players of the year. , showing fans what’s new in Rift and giving an idea of what we’ve got in store for LoL Esports in 2023.
All professional teams in each of the nine leagues will send players to participate in the startup event. Each region determines how teams are distributed, so you may see different methods in LCS and PCS. Summoner’s Rift will feature best-of-three matches with no bans or re-champions. Each of the professional teams featured on the winning team will be able to create an emote with our designers to be added to League of Legends.
The Startup event will replace League of Legends All-Star. While the All-Star Game has provided players and fans with countless special moments over the years, the current schedule can be quite challenging for many players. Replacing All Star with a Start of Season event will provide a well-deserved break for the pros and a new platform for the fans, complementing the local competitions and end-of-season celebrations that regions typically host at this time.
