The end of Google Stadia: the service ends on January 18

With the shutdown of Google Stadia, the company’s cloud gaming service, which will join its list of “failed experiments” along with Google Glass and the Google Plus social network, will be permanently shut down on January 18th. While turning it off means you’ll soon lose access to all your games and Google Stadia saves, many publishers have shared ways to save your purchases and switch platforms so you can keep playing your games. • cyberpunk 2077: The Projekt Red Developer CD will allow you to transfer your data to a PC by manually downloading it using Google Takeout. There is a guide on the studio website explaining the process. You won’t be able to restore your save after closing Google Stadia.
• Hitman 3: Developer IO Interactive allows players to complete the unique “Stadia Progress Transfer” to transfer their progress to PC (Windows, Steam or Epic), Xbox or PlayStation. You will need to link your IOI account to your Google Stadia account before the Stadia servers go offline. According to the support page, IO Interactive plans to open the transition tool on January 11th, but you can link your accounts now to get ready.
• The Elder Scrolls Online: If you’ve played Bethesda’s fantasy MMO on Stadia, you can log into your Elder Scrolls Account on the Bethesda website, download and play the game on PC and Mac to pick up your adventure where you left off. Here’s the Bethesda support page if you’d like to learn more.
• Ubisoft games: Ubisoft is giving away free PC copies of Ubisoft games you own on Google Stadia (with five exceptions, three of which are games). Just dance). To get free games, you need to link your Ubisoft and Stadia accounts before the close on January 18th. And in all games that support cross-platform play, your progress will also carry over to PC. Google will refund money for purchases in the Stadia Store

Ahead of Google Stadia’s upcoming shutdown on January 18, Google is starting to process promised refunds for Google Stadia games, add-ons, and subscription fees (excluding Stadia Pro). According to the recently updated Stadia shutdown FAQ, starting Wednesday, Google will attempt to recover your transactions with the original payment method.

Monitor your email to see if Google has tried to process your refunds. If you’ve made 20 or fewer purchases on the Stadia store, Google says you’ll receive an email for each of those transactions. If you have made 21 or more purchases, you will receive one email with a summary of your refund attempts.

If Google is unable to refund this payment method, the company says it will send an email to the Google account you used to make the purchase. This email explains how to set up a different refund method. If you’ve deleted your Google account, “we’ll still attempt to automatically revert the transaction to the original payment method,” the company wrote.

And if that’s not available, the company encourages you to contact Stadia support. The company began processing refunds in November and expects to process “the majority” of refunds by January 18, so keep an eye on your email for confirmation.
