Doom, Dead Space and disco collide in this cool retro FPS game

If you like Doom, Dead Space, retro first-person shooters, and disco, you might have found the perfect game for you with one of the best trailers I’ve seen in a long time. All of the above and the immersive sim genre come together here for what could be the hit of 2023.

It’s called RetroSpace, and it’s an immersive first-person simulation with a disco-punk aesthetic, funky beats, and a dash of humor and horror thrown in for good measure. You can thank Saturday’s weekly screenshot event for the opening, as the shooter’s Twitter account shared a great hashtag trailer, and you can check it out below.

According to developer Bank B. Varga, RetroSpace has “a heavy focus on freedom and exploration” and games like System Shock seem to be the main influence on the gameplay itself. That said, the atmosphere and filming definitely give me more of a Doom and Dead Space vibe, but RetroSpace still looks like an incredibly intriguing beast.

The game will feature hacking, shooting, stealth, and other stealth gameplay mechanics, as well as a light/shadow Thief system where you can also shoot and turn off the lights. It’s made by a studio called The Wild Gentlemen, and RetroSpace definitely adds the word “wild” to the studio’s name, that’s for sure.

RetroSpace looks like a melting pot of gaming genres and inspirations that could very well end up in a slow cooker and become one of the idle hits of 2023. I know it’s premature to do that, but the game’s visual identity is already very strong. that immersive sim mechanics do the same thing could make it last forever.

The Steam page hasn’t been published yet, but will appear anytime after this article goes live. So we’ll be sure to update the story with a link when I do. What does a free code for another immersive simulator look like? Well, you can get Dishonored 2 for free if you subscribe to Amazon Prime and it is truly one of the best games in its genre.
