Seeing your two passions suddenly collide is a wonderful feeling, and like two different friends meeting for the first time and immediately hitting it off, it warms your heart. So when my two main passions, gaming and professional wrestling, decide to intersect, I can only rejoice. Specifically, it’s an RPG of Final Fantasy 7 and AEW’s Kenny Omega, but fans of both will definitely want to check it out.
Omega is at New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Wrestle Kingdom 17 pay-per-view (PPV), and the self-proclaimed gamer has done what many have been waiting for years: He stepped out dressed as Final Fantasy 7 villain Sephiroth to take on a One-winged angel l Nobuo Uematsu.
Video games and associated wrestling are nothing new – AEW’s Adam Cole is also a regular Twitch streamer and once in the ring dressed as Master Chief – just one example – but it looks like a colossal moment for Omega. Not only is the song and costume absolutely fantastic, but Omega is back in New Japan after an injury sidelined him in AEW for a while, so he feels like a triumphant return.

The references to Final Fantasy 7 and video games in general don’t end there for Omega, as his finishing move is actually called One-winged Angel, and it really is one of the coolest things you’ll ever see. The Omega finisher almost never gets knocked out, so when he raises his right arm with an opponent over his shoulders, you know something special is about to happen.
Omega’s signature move is also called V-Trigger, which is an equally elusive nod to a technique from the fighting game Street Fighter 5. So, in effect, Omega’s now-historic appearance is more of a reward than a pure surprise, but still amazing to watch. in any case.
Things also seem to be back on Omega, as he will appear in the upcoming pro wrestling game AEW Fight Forever, which could rival WWE’s current number of matches.
