Bungie’s community manager has confirmed that Destiny 2’s sparrow speed bug, which causes one vehicle to be faster than others, has deeper development issues that make it impossible to apply to more sparrows.
A while back, players noticed that the exotic sparrow is always faster than other sparrows in the game, which have a maximum speed of 160. Always on time is also listed as 160, but due to a bug, it is significantly faster than the other. sparrows in space game.
YouTuber Sweatcicle tested Always on Time against another sparrow 160 speed and showed how it saves a few seconds of ride time.
This has led members of the Destiny 2 community to wonder why Bungie can’t create more faster-running sparrows. However, Bungie’s Senior Community Manager Dylan “dmg04” Gafner recently revealed why the speed was not standard and why the development team did not fix the bug.
While the bug is useful for individual players, the bug causes the sparrow to move too fast for public areas in the FPS game to properly fill with other Guardians. Guardians using this sparrow can find empty public spaces, making it difficult for other players to find group activities such as public events.
The problem seems to be unique to the underlying code that drives the exotic itself. dmg04 indicates that the bug fix will actually require the sparrow to be removed from the game and replaced in player inventories. However, it does hint that while the population issue can be a major problem if widespread, it currently doesn’t affect a large part of the player base, which is why the team decided not to take any corrective action.
“The team looked at the data (from the entire community) to test the impact. Lots of people still use other sparrows and the speed difference isn’t that big for most players,” he tweeted. However, he noted that he also understands people’s feelings about the loss of speed when using sparrows that are not affected by the beetle.
Always on Time’s speed increase is a bug “entrenched a bit more in the sparrow itself” and would require “reworking the item” to remove, Bungie says.
So we probably won’t see another sparrow that matches the speed of AoT #Destiny2. pic.twitter.com/mM0amtm8hT

Unfortunately, this means faster sparrows won’t be coming to Destiny 2 player maps anytime soon. The sparrow may need to be relocated somewhere in the future.
