Valheim Mistlands update makes the biome safer, but not the ballista

Valheim Mistlands update 0.212.9 has hit the public test branch of survival game Viking, and it aims to make the dangerous biome a bit safer to explore, though that doesn’t make ballistae any less dangerous, though. despite resentment from some players. The Valheim Mistlands update hit the public servers on December 6 after several weeks of public testing, and players have been terrorized by local seekers and flying gyalls ever since.

First, let’s get rid of the bad news. There are some useful tweaks to Ballista: they’ll now shoot faster, ammo is cheaper to produce, and added sound effects to make it easier to tell when they’re firing and when they’re out of sight. However, despite the “changed aiming behavior”, the developers confirm that it will still target friendly creatures and players, which has caused much consternation among community members, who say that as a result, it’s simply not worth the effort. use automatic turrets.

It has been the subject of controversy since its release, with Twitter vote from Senior Developer Jonathan Smores, who concluded that 57.5% of respondents believe ballistae should never be fired at players. However, Smores himself is very supportive of potential danger, noting that all other defenses, such as traps, have the same effect on players and monsters. Speech“If I just shot the monsters, wouldn’t it be a little less exciting?”

It’s also a bit disappointing that the warmth that different rugs provide no longer adds up, which means you’ll have fewer opportunities to make your home ultra-cozy with a bunch of rugs. That’s about five minutes short of maximum comfort, which is probably a fair balance shift, though players note that the idea of having a bunch of cute blankets was very relevant to the whole atmosphere of the game.

However, there is a lot to look forward to in these latest Valheim Mistlands patch notes. The durability of Misty Lands armor and shield recipes has been increased, making it a bit easier to research. The spawn rate of Seeker Soldiers and Gjalls, two of the most dangerous recurring creatures in the new biome, has been reduced to something “similar to the troll spawn in the Black Forest.”

As a result, you’ll not only see fewer gyalls spawn, but they’ll also be slightly less able to deal full damage to your base: they now only fire one projectile at a time, instead of two. As for the Seekers, their entire AI has been tweaked slightly to make them slightly less aggressive, which should give players a chance to catch their breath in the middle of a fight.

If you’re having trouble with the new Seeker event that stuns you with Troublesome Ants in places you don’t expect them to spawn, you’re in luck too. The event will no longer occur in the Grassland, Swamp, Mountain, or Ocean biomes. On top of that, you won’t see the trapper soldiers, so it should be a bit easier to deal with them before they take over your base.
