Dispatch Reworked significantly complicates law enforcement response in GTA 5, adding new behaviors, improved intelligence for police officers, and a more intuitive and dangerous search system in general.
Once you enter the wanted level of three stars, the police will respond first by sending local units and K9 units to isolate you. The longer the chase continues, the more advanced response forces will be sent, including the National Guard, which will now deploy fighter jets.
It may seem commonplace, but here the devil is in the details. At night, the police will use flashlights to chase you more efficiently. Instead of instantly spawning around you, they’ll zero in on your last known location, turning GTA 5 into a more difficult game of cat and mouse as you try to stay in the background after your last encounter.
If you enter a building, the police will switch to melee weapons like shotguns and now each unit type has the ability to arrest you. General combat and hunting AI has been improved, with different types of police units now chasing you across the countryside and mountains – travel to different areas and jurisdictions on the Los Santos map and area-specific units will take control.
Killing other first responders such as EMTs, Paramedics, and Firefighters will now trigger a tougher police response. If you are using a heavy or armored vehicle, the police will now also react by sending their own armored vans and armored personnel carriers to arrest you.
