Microsoft says Windows 11 22H2 update now works perfectly with your GPU

Although the Windows 11 22H2 update was released in September, Microsoft has only just begun its full rollout to select systems. The long-awaited patch seemed to malfunction with graphics cards, reducing performance in games. However, it seems that it is finally safe to boot the latest version of the operating system.

The last thing you want after buying the best graphics card you can afford is for your computer’s operating system to prevent you from enjoying your new hardware. Unfortunately, this has become all too common in the latest version of Windows.

As recently as November, Microsoft confirmed that the Windows 11 22H2 update is bad for your GPU and other issues affecting Ryzen processors are wreaking havoc early in their lifecycle.

Fortunately, those headaches are a thing of the past (for now). Microsoft recently updated their support page stating that the “KB5020044” patch has restored graphics card performance to where it should be (via BleepingComputer). Don’t expect an update to be offered right away, as it can take up to 48 hours for Windows Update to offer it to you.

With the first DirectStorage games coming soon, Windows 11 may soon spend its time in the sun. However, judging by Steam’s hardware review, it won’t be long before it supplants Windows 10 as the most popular operating system among gamers.
